Gen-Z Language

Updated: May 22, 2019

Keep reading for my honest opinion on the trending language.

Kids my age usually use social media or texting for communication, but every once in awhile you here those words that don't really make sense.

Here is my interpretation of those words:

LIT-I think this is an abbreviation of Legit, its use is not clear to me. It seems like when kids are at a loss for words, they automatically say "lit"

YOLO- this word seems special. It has a special sign to accompany it, which is actually the letter "Y" in sign-language waved back and forth. Honestly, I have no idea what this word means. I think it is mostly used by teenage girls.

LOL- Girls say this aloud when they feel the need to express amusement or joy, but are too cool to laugh. The abbreviation, as you all know stands for "Laugh out Loud"

Y'ALL MIND IF I FLEX?- I honestly have no clue what this means. Like, sure, show us your muscles.

BAE- I have no idea what this means. I believe it is a term of endearment. I have head girls say "Netflix is bae" and to be completely honest, I think they are crazy. Like, just say "I love Netflix!" Both phrases have the same meaning, but the second one seems much more normal.

If you have any more words, feel free to leave them in the comments section!
